Funding from Cumbria County Council is available for parents/carers
wishing to choose Smile as their nursery education provider. This
is an entitlement of 5x 2.5hrs per week for 33 weeks of the 39 week
academic year.
Sessions run from 9.00am - 11.30am. The curriculum is topic
based and chosen to enable children to work towards the early Learning
Goals of the Foundation Stage Curriculum, which is a 2 year programme
completed by the end of reception.
By means of developmentally appropriate play activities and
a high level of individual adult input, we offer a curriculum that
leads to nationally approved Early Learning Goals and prepares children
to progress confidently through the foundation stage.
At Smile we:
- Provide a safe and happy learning environment where children
can grow in confidence and learn new skills.
- We prioritise developing children's individual skills and
understanding in each area of development. Staff have high but
realistic expectations to help children reach their full potential.
- Staff tract progress of each child by careful observation
and record keeping of individual progress and development. We
will support children with particular needs and monitor them in
accordance with the Special Needs Code of Practice.
- Smile respects the individual backgrounds and abilities
of each child and promotes mutual respect to all families.
