Funding from Cumbria County Council is available for parents/carers wishing to choose Smile as their nursery education provider. This is an entitlement of 15 hours per week for 38 weeks of the year.
Sessions can either be claimed in blocks of 2.5 hours or 3 hours which can be used in both mornings and afternoons. These sessions run from 8.30-11.30 of 9-11.30 and 1-4 or 1.30-4.
The curriculum is topic based and chosen to enable children to work towards the learning goals of the foundation stage curriculum which is a 2year programme completed by the end of reception.
At Smile we:
- Provide a safe and happy learning environment where children
can grow in confidence and learn new skills.
- We prioritise developing children's individual skills and
understanding in each area of development. Staff have high but
realistic expectations to help children reach their full potential.
- Staff track progress of each child by careful observation
and record keeping of individual progress and development. We
will support children with particular needs and monitor them in
accordance with the Special Needs Code of Practice.
- Smile respects the individual backgrounds and abilities
of each child and promotes mutual respect to all families.
